Untitled by Joe Mitchell January 3, 2007 Find a flower to suit you I looked for color And length of stem Shining petals And leaves of green They shine in the sun About the author: My first poem about my first love! Challenged at the crossroads of youth and adulthood, by a high school teacher, to write a poem I thought I would become ill. Neither was I able to stomach the thought of spending another year in English composition so the lesser of two evils was chosen! Poetry has seen me through years of growing up. Starry nights on the south pacific, two marriages, a divorce, births of children, loss of parents & friends and time spent alone wondering about the mysteries of my existence. This has always turned my heart and mind to verse. Many, many hand-penned verses later I can no longer doubt that my childhood challenge was divine. |
